Night Operation GPU | Low‑Noise 400Hz Ground Power for Noise‑Sensitive Airports
Some airports have neighbors. Really close neighbors. And those neighbors complain about the constant whine of 400Hz GPUs running all night. The Night Operation GPU was built for those airports. It's a standard 60kVA solid‑state GPU, but wrapped in extra sound insulation and fitted with slower, larger fans. The result? Under 60 decibels at full load. That's about as loud as a normal conversation. At half load, it's barely there. We put these into gates that are close to houses, overnight cargo terminals, and airports with strict noise curfews. The ramp crew can work. The neighbors sleep. Everybody wins.

Night Operation GPU Main Features
- Acoustic enclosure – Sound‑absorbing foam inside the cabinet. Reduces fan and transformer noise.
- Oversized slow fans – Moves the same air as standard fans but at half the rpm. Less whine.
- Soft‑start on fans – They ramp up gradually. No sudden blast of noise when the unit turns on.
- Standard output – Same 115V/200V 400Hz as any other GPU. No surprises for the aircraft.

Why Choose ACSOON Night Operation GPU?
- Quiet – 58‑60 dB(A) at 7 meters under load. Normal talking level. No earplugs needed.
- Same power – 60kVA continuous. No performance trade‑off for the lower noise.
- Meets noise ordinances – Many airports have limits. This unit stays under them.
- No extra air conditioning – Passive acoustic treatment, not active cooling. No extra power draw.
Night Operation GPU Application Areas
Airports next to residential areas – Think London City, Santa Monica, San Diego. Gates near houses.
Overnight cargo terminals – FedEx, UPS hubs where trucks and aircraft run all night. Crews appreciate the quiet.
Maintenance hangars – Working late on a 737? The GPU won’t add to the noise fatigue.
Military bases with curfews – Some bases have noise restrictions for ground equipment. This unit helps.

Our Services

Quality Control
Noise tested – Every unit runs in a semi‑anechoic chamber. Sound meter at 7 meters. Must be under 60 dB.
Airflow verified – Even with slower fans, internal temp must stay under specs. Thermal camera on all sides.
Vibration check – Acoustic foam can loosen over time. Shake table for 2 hours. Nothing falls off.
Full electrical burn‑in – 2 hours at 60kVA, then 90kVA for 60 seconds. Same as standard units.
R&D Results
Foam selection – Tried three different materials. Most absorbed sound but trapped heat. Found a melamine foam that breathes. Works well.
Fan redesign – Standard fans were too loud even at low speed. Switched to a different blade shape. Reduced noise by 4 dB.
Transformer mounting – Added rubber isolators under the transformer. Cut down low‑frequency hum transmitted through the chassis.
Customer feedback – One airport asked for a "night mode"switch that drops the fan speed further at the cost of power derating. Added as an option.

Packaging and Transportation
Shipped from Xi'an – Standard wooden crate. Same as any GPU400.
Extra foam inside crate – Protects the acoustic treatment during shipping.
Documentation – Noise test report included. Useful for airport compliance.
Same cable reel options – Manual or motorized, 25m or 40m.
After‑Sales Service
1‑year warranty – Covers electronics and fans. Acoustic foam is a consumable – not covered after 6 months.
Spare parts (fans, foam panels, IGBTs) kept in Xi'an.
Email support – We'll help with noise complaints from neighbors. (We can't fix the neighbors, but we can check the unit.)

Qualification Certification
CE – Electrical safety and EMC;MIL‑STD‑704F – Output tested;ISO 9001:2015 – Our Xi'an factory;Noise test report – Third‑party acoustic measurement available on request.

FAQ |
---
Q: How quiet is "quiet"?
A: 58 dB(A) at 7 meters. For reference: normal conversation is about 60 dB, a household refrigerator is 55 dB. You can have a normal‑volume conversation right next to it.
Q: Does the lower noise mean less power?
A: No. Full 60kVA continuous. The fans are slower but larger. They move the same amount of air. No derating.
Q: Can I retrofit a standard GPU with this acoustic kit?
A: Not really. The fan mounts are different, and the foam is custom‑cut. We'd have to ship the unit back to Xi'an. Cheaper to buy the LN version upfront.
Q: What about 90kVA? Do you make a quiet 90kVA?
A: Yes. Order GPU400‑330090. Same noise level, same features. The 90kVA is about 10% louder at full load (62 dB), but still very quiet for its class.
Q: What's the lead time from Xi'an?
A: 5‑6 weeks. The acoustic treatment is hand‑fitted. We keep a few in stock – ask sales.
