- Product Description
Not every gate has a passenger bridge. Sometimes you've got a remote stand, a cargo apron, or a maintenance spot where a bridge‑mounted GPU won't fit. That's where a Pit Mounted GPU comes in.It sits in a concrete pit, flush with the ground. You drive the aircraft over it, open the lid, pull out the cable, and plug in. When you're done, the cable retracts, the lid closes, and it's out of the way – no tripping hazards, no damage from baggage carts running over it.We've put these in at cargo terminals in Hong Kong, remote stands in Denver, and military aprons in Germany. They take a beating and keep working. The lid is rated for the weight of a fuel truck. The cable reel is inside the pit, protected from the weather. Set it and forget it.

Pit Mounted GPU Main Features
Automatic cable reel – Push a button on the aircraft plug handle. Reel extends or retracts. No manual cranking.
Integrated drainage – Pit has a sump pump. Keeps the electronics dry even in heavy rain.
Remote monitoring – Optional comms module reports status, faults, and usage hours to your maintenance desk.
Heated option – For cold climates, an internal heater keeps electronics above freezing. Prevents condensation and cold starts.

Why Choose ACSOON Pit Mounted GPU?
Saves ramp space – Nothing sticking up above ground. Cargo loaders and fuel trucks roll right over it.
Tough lid – Steel plate with anti‑skid coating, rated for 10 tons. Won't crack when a container dolly runs it over.
Cable protection – Reel and cables are underground. No UV damage, no ice buildup, no ramp rash.
Same power as our top‑side units – 90kVA of clean 400Hz. No compromise just because it's in a pit.
Pit Mounted GPU Application Areas
Cargo aprons – Freighters park away from main terminals. Pit units give them clean power without clutter.
Remote stands – Low‑cost alternative to building a full gate. Drop a pit, connect to available grid, done.
Military ramps – Aircraft parking on large concrete pads. Pits keep the surface clear for vehicle movement.
Maintenance wash bays – Put a pit near the wash area. Power for systems checks before and after cleaning.

Our Services

Quality Control
Every pit water tested – We fill the pit with water for 24 hours. Pressurized from below. No leaks allowed.
Lid load test – Hydraulic press applies 12,000kg for 1 minute. Lid must not deform more than 2mm.
Reel cycle test – Cable extended and retracted 1000 times. No jams, no broken slip rings.
Full electrical test – Same as our above‑ground GPUs. 2 hour burn‑in, 150% overload check.
R&D Results
Learned from frozen pits – Early units in Chicago had condensation damage. Added a 100W heater and a breather valve. Problem solved.
Reel motor upgrade – Original motor was too weak for 40m cables. Switched to a larger, geared motor. Retracts faster, lasts longer.
Lid hinge redesign – Customers complained about soil getting into the hinge pins. Sealed bearings now. Greaseable once a year.
Remote monitoring – Added Modbus over RS485 after a cargo airline asked to integrate with their facility management system.

Packaging and Transportation
Shipped from Xi'an – Pit shell on a pallet. Reel and electronics in separate crate.
On‑site assembly required – Local electrician sets the pit in concrete, connects power, and mounts the lid.
Documentation – Installation drawings, electrical schematics, and a laminated quick reference card.
Spare parts – Extra slip rings, motor, and lid gasket included in a small box.
After‑Sales Service
1‑year warranty on electronics and mechanical parts.
Spare parts (reel motor, slip ring assembly, control board) stocked in Xi'an.
Email support – We'll help your local electrician with troubleshooting.

Qualification Certification

FAQ |
---
Q1: How deep is the pit?
A: About 1.2 meters from apron level to bottom. The exact dimensions are in the installation drawing. You'll need to pour concrete, so plan ahead.
Q2: Can I retrofit this into an existing pit that had a different brand?
A: Maybe. We need the pit dimensions. Our unit is designed to fit standard 1.2m x 1.2m x 1m pits. If yours is different, we can make a custom adapter frame. Add 2 weeks and a small fee.
Q3: What happens if the pit fills with water?
A: There's a float switch and a sump pump. The pump activates when water reaches 5cm. If the pump fails, the electronics are sealed to IP68 – they can sit underwater for 72 hours. But call maintenance anyway.
Q4: Does the cable reel work in freezing temperatures?
A: The heated version works down to -20°C. The standard version is rated to -5°C. If you're in a cold climate, specify the heated option. It adds about $500 and includes a thermostat.
Q5: What's the lead time from Xi'an?
A: 6 weeks for the heated version, 4 weeks for standard. We build the pit and reel assembly to order because of the cable length and heater option.
