FAQ

Q1: Why is -48VDC used in telecom?
A: -48VDC has a long history in telecom due to its safety (low voltage), compatibility with battery backup systems, and reduced corrosion compared to positive voltage. It remains the global standard for fixed-line and mobile network equipment power.
Q2: What does "N+1 Redundancy" mean?
A: It means the system has one more rectifier module than required to power the load. If "N" modules are needed, "N+1" are installed. If one module fails, the remaining "N" can still fully power the load without interruption, allowing for repair during operation.
Q3: Can this system support both AC and DC input for backup?
A: The standard system uses AC input. For backup, it is designed to be connected to a bank of DC batteries. In a typical setup, the rectifiers convert AC to DC to power the load and charge the batteries. During an AC failure, the batteries seamlessly take over.
Q4: How is battery runtime determined?
A: Runtime depends on the total load (Amps) and the capacity (Ah) of the connected battery bank. Our systems are compatible with standard telecom batteries, and we can assist in sizing the battery bank to meet your required backup time.
Q5: Can the system be monitored remotely?
A: Yes. With built-in SNMP and Modbus interfaces, the system can be integrated into your existing Network Management System (NMS) or monitored via our optional web-based interface for real-time status, alarms, and historical data.
