- Product Description
Helicopter 28V DC GPU | Portable DC Ground Power for Helicopter Start & Maintenance
Helicopters don't have big APUs like airliners. You need external power for engine start, rotor brake, and avionics. But a full‑size GPU cart is overkill for a Robinson or a Bell. It won't fit next to the skid, and you don't need 600 amps. The Helicopter 28V DC GPU is sized for rotorcraft. It delivers 200A continuous – plenty for starting a turboshaft or running the whole electrical bus. The whole unit weighs about what a suitcase does. One person carries it out to the helicopter, plugs into any wall outlet, and connects to the aircraft. No tug, no trailer, no fuss.We built these for helicopter operators who got tired of dragging around heavy equipment. Flight schools, air ambulance bases, and private owners use them daily.

Helicopter 28V DC GPU Main Features
- Adjustable voltage – 22‑32VDC. Set it for 28V for most helicopters, or 25.5V for older 24V systems.
- Current limit dial – Turn it down to 10A for battery charging. Turn it up to 200A for engine start.
- Short‑circuit proof – Output can be shorted forever. No damage.
- Reverse polarity protection – If you connect backwards, an internal fuse blows. Easy to replace.

Why Choose ACSOON Helicopter 28V DC GPU?
- Small enough to carry – Two handles, fits in the back of a pickup. No tow bar needed.
- Quiet – At idle or light load, no fan runs. On the ramp, you barely hear it.
- Works on any 220V outlet – No need for three‑phase power at your helipad.
- Safe for aircraft – Current limit adjustable down to 10A. Protects old wiring.
Helicopter 28V DC GPU Application Areas
- Helicopter flight schools – Daily starts for Robinson R22/R44, Schweizer, Guimbal.
- Air ambulance bases – Keep the EC135 or BK117 battery ready. Pre‑heat avionics before launch.
- Private helicopter hangars – Power up your Bell 206 or Airbus H125 for pre‑flight checks.
- Maintenance shops – Test starter generators, hydraulic pumps, and avionics without running the engine.

Our Services

Quality Control
- Every unit load tested – 200A for 1 hour, then 300A for 30 seconds. Thermal camera scan.
- Ripple checked – At 100A and 200A. Must stay under 0.2V RMS.
- Drop test – One from each batch dropped from 80cm onto concrete. Must still power up.
- Final walk‑around – Human checks handles, knobs, connectors, and labels.
R&D Results
Weight reduction – First prototype weighed too much. Switched from copper to ferrite transformer. Saved 6kg.
Handle placement – Original handles were on the sides. Awkward to carry. Moved to the top, centered. Much better.
Fan noise – Early unit had the fan running constantly. Helicopter pilots complained. Now it only spins when internal temp exceeds 50°C.
Added a shoulder strap option – Some customers asked for a strap to walk across the ramp. We added clips.

Packaging and Transportation
Shipped from Xi'an – Cardboard box with foam inserts. Small enough for courier.
Included – Power cord (2m), output cable with NATO plug, printed quick start, spare fuse.
Manual – Full manual on USB. QR code links to a setup video.
Pallet option – 6 units per pallet for dealers.
After‑Sales Service
1‑year warranty – Return to Xi'an. We cover parts and labor.
Spare parts (fan, fuse, display board) kept in Xi'an. Express shipping available.
Email support – We respond within one business day. Include serial number.

FAQ |
---
Q1: Will this start a Bell 407 or Airbus H125?
A: Yes. Those helicopters draw about 150‑180A during engine start. This unit delivers 200A continuous, 300A peak. Plenty of margin.
Q2: Can I use it to charge the helicopter's battery?
A: Yes. Set voltage to 28.8V (for lead‑acid) or 29.4V (for NiCd). Set current limit to 10‑20A. The unit will run in constant‑current mode until the battery reaches the set voltage.
Q3: Does it work with 110V input?
A: Not directly. The standard model needs 220V. We have a 110V version – order ADCW‑28200‑H‑110. It delivers 150A continuous on 110V, still enough for most helicopters.
Q4: What's the difference between this and your lightweight 28V GPU for general aviation?
A: The lightweight GA unit is similar but has higher current (200A) and different output connector options. This helicopter version includes a NATO plug standard and a shoulder strap option. Same basic electronics.
Q5: What's the lead time from Xi'an?
A: 2‑3 weeks. We sometimes have stock – ask sales.
